‘Tis the sea… Well, almost.
But tickets for Akron’s premier holiday season home tour are now on sale.
Some of the area’s finest historic and contemporary homes will open their doors Sunday, Dec. 2, from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. for the 17th annual Sugar Plum Tour.
The Sugar Plum Tour is the signature fundraiser of the Gay Community Endowment Fund of the Akron Community Foundation. Since 2001, thousands of people have experienced the twinkling lights, roaring fires, sparkling trees and extraordinary holiday decorations of more than 90 homes throughout Greater Akron.
Last year’s tour raised more than $100,000 for the fund, which supports programs that positively impact the local LGBTQ+ community and Greater Akron as a whole.
This year’s tour will showcase five exquisitely decorated homes in Fairlawn, Norton and Bath. Sponsors also are invited to a private party at an exclusive sixth residence in Fairlawn Heights from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
Guests will tour a French country manor nestled in the heart of Fairlawn Heights; an authentic 1800s restored farmhouse and barn; an elegant yet rustic and refined equestrian delight in Bath; a magnificent turn-of-the-century Tudor mansion that has been completely restored; and a clean contemporary home with a dramatic floor plan. The Patron Party home is a rambling, cozy and unique Huntington Valley-inspired brick treasure owned by a local interior designer.
Tickets for the tour are on sale now at www.sugarplumtour.org. General admission tickets are $35 and include the five-home, self-guided tour. Guests who purchase tickets by Wednesday, Oct. 31 will receive a $5 discount off the price of admission.
Sponsorships begin at $500 and include the self-guided tour of five homes; an invitation to the private, a catered party at an exclusive sixth residence; and a locally crafted stained glass ornament. Additional commemorative ornaments are available online for $30 while supplies last.
Cash-only general admission tickets can also be purchased the day of the event at Angel Falls Coffee Company, 792 W. Market St. in Akron. Both printed and digital tour guides with maps of the home locations will be available.
