Heads up, Pride coming through!

Latest count: 10 queens, two DJs, almost 700 RSVPs and two Mike Pences (but one of them has nicer legs).

Ten drag queens, two DJs and a Mike Pence lookalike in short shorts are confirmed for Friday’s outdoor dance party that will kick off Columbus Pride weekend and show the visiting vice president how much better the moves are on the right side of history.

And this afternoon, organizers of the Welcome Mike Pence Big LGBTQ Dance Party announced that they’ve received permission from Columbus City Hall to block off a portion of Gay Street for the Downtown event.

It’s scheduled from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Gay Street—let’s call it Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Trans and Queer Street for the time being—between 3rd Street and Pearl Alley.

The location is right around the corner from where Pence will be fêted by an ultra-conservative group called America First Policies, whose founders and leaders include one Trump-Pence campaign official who has been convicted as part of the Russia collusion probe and an administration official who recently resigned because of racist, sexist, homophobic and anti-Muslim comments.

The dance party/demonstration has been getting national attention since Prizm broke the news of it Monday morning.

“Mike Pence may not have known he will address a right-wing group’s conference in Columbus, Ohio, on the same weekend as LGBT Pride in the city,” the Daily Beast wrote Wednesday. “But the vice president will most certainly know it when he shows up at the Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel in the city on Friday to address the America First Policies conference.”

“The party is the LGBT community’s way of trolling Pence, who has a recorded history of supporting policies that harm the LGBT community as a congressman and as governor of Indiana,” The Advocate wrote on Tuesday.

Newsweek, The Guardian, the New York Daily News, LGBTQ Nation and other queer and mainstream media picked up the story.

“She’s gonna love it!” tweeted out comedian Alec Mapa.

There will be two DJ stages Friday, with DJ Moxy and DJ ETL spinning. Drag performers include Virginia West, Sable Coate, Kiley Dash West, Amanda Sue, Gretta Goodbottom, Eris Gray, Roxy Nicole, Selena T. West, Bianca Debonair and Mary Nolan.

Mike Hot-Pence, a veep impersonator who raises money for all of his doppelganger’s nemeses, is making his way to Columbus for the party as well.

Hot-Pence, who is gay, is New Yorker Glen Pannell, who has parlayed his Pencian looks into more than $30,000 in contributions to Planned Parenthood, The Trevor Project and groups supporting gun control, environmental issues and civil rights.
